How to make pho: How to get a pho pie crust, funnel cake and pie crust recipe
The Pho Pho Pie Crust is a simple pie crust made with ground beef, ground pork, beef broth and egg yolks.
You’ll want to use this pie crust to make your pie crust for this pho sauce.
You can also make a pie crust using an egg white mixture instead of beef broth.1 pound ground beef1 lb ground pork1 medium onion, diced1/2 cup finely chopped celery, finely chopped2 eggs, beaten1 teaspoon ground cumin1/4 teaspoon dried oregano1/8 teaspoon ground thyme1/3 cup chicken stock2 teaspoons soy sauce, or tamari1 teaspoon chili powder1/6 teaspoon garlic powder1 teaspoon ginger, minced1/12 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon black pepper1/16 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/1 cup whole wheat pastry flour (or a blend of flour and water, such as wheat pastry)2 teaspoons olive oil (or vegetable oil)2 tablespoons coconut oil1/5 cup chicken broth1 teaspoon fish sauce (or water)1/10 teaspoon chili pepper1 tablespoon ground cayenne pepperTo make the pho gravy:In a large saucepan, add the beef broth, ground canker, celery and onion.
Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
Drain and rinse under cold water.
Add the beef and celery.
Cook until the meat is almost done, about 4 minutes.
Add in the pork broth, cumin, oreganos, thyme and caynesseeds.
Stir to combine.
Cook for another minute, stirring often, until everything is well mixed.
Add a pinch of salt, pepper, cayennesseeds and soy sauce to taste.
Let cook for another 15 minutes.
Add the fish sauce, soy sauce and chili pepper to the meat broth and cook for 1 minute.
Add more fish sauce to cover the meat.
Let simmer for an additional 15 minutes, stirring frequently, until it is thickened.
Transfer the meat to a colander, drain the gravy and set aside to cool.
To make the funnel cakes:Preheat oven to 350 degreesF.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and place an 8 by 12 inch square of cake in the center.
Using a wooden spoon, gently stir the cake into the pie crust.
Place the piecrust in the oven and bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is bubbly.
Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
Place the cake in a bowl and top with a spoonful of filling. Enjoy!
