‘Theres a new era of football in Italy’: Di Matteo
A new era is underway at Milan and there’s plenty to be excited about.
It’s not just because of the number of games they’ve played over the past couple of seasons.
It’s because of what’s coming.
It’s a massive opportunity for the Nerazzurri.
In just three seasons, the Giallorossi have seen a massive improvement in their squad, and they’ve already added several players who have been linked with moves to Europe.
“Theres no doubt in my mind that the first team is the best in Italy and in Serie A,” Milan president Andrea Agnelli said on Monday.
“Theres only one problem with that, theres no team that has the talent to do what we want them to do.”
There is only one team that can compete with us, the one that can win us a Champions League.
It is a challenge, a challenge we will try to fulfil.
“Thats why we have been working so hard, because I believe that we are the best team in the world.
A few weeks ago we started our recruitment of the players we need for the new season, and we are starting to move into the transfer window.”
We are still working on the details, but I can say that we have the players that are ready to take part in our team and to contribute to our team.
“Milan will always be a team that is on the brink of greatness, and its clear that we will never give up.
We are confident in ourselves, we are confident that we can compete, we believe that when the ball comes to us, we will be able to deliver.
We are on the path of building something great, and our fans are very proud of us.
We have the ambition to achieve greatness, we have to realise our ambition, and then we can continue the good work that we were doing before.”
The new-look team in 2017 Milan is in a very good position to make the leap into the Champions League, but the team needs to put together a few key signings in order to make that happen.
The club have a good group of young players, with Marco Verratti, Marco Bertrand, Luca Antonelli and Gianluigi Donnarumma all set to arrive on the market, but there’s a long way to go.
Mina Kimesa is in the final year of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico and is set to join Juventus in a deal worth around €30 million.
Dani Collina is one of the few remaining full-backs at Milan, and he is a player that is a good fit for the team, as his pace and versatility will suit the style of play that Milan will play.
Gianluigi Buffon is also a key player in the squad, as he has a strong relationship with coach Di Matteopo, and his inclusion in the starting XI will give Milan the firepower to go toe-to-toe with any of the top sides in Europe.
The only thing that has to be sorted out is whether the players can handle the pressure of competing with the big names in the Champions Cup.
Milans season has already begun and they’re looking forward to the new campaign.
